Fat Tuesday Expands to Tampa with New Frozen Cocktail Bar

A restaurant chain famous for its boozy slushies and giant souvenir cups is making a comeback in Ybor City this week. Fat Tuesday officially opened its doors on Tuesday, August 27, at the former Big Easy location on 1704 E 7th Avenue. To celebrate, the chain will host a grand-opening party this weekend, running from Friday to Sunday, August 30 to September 1.

“In celebration of the grand opening, the store will offer a special discount on its popular Sports Bottle cup, which will be available for $10 and refilled for $8 (regularly priced at $19 and $11 refills) along with handing out their classic daiquiri cups for free and get refills for $10,” said the company in a press release.

Known for its massive souvenir cups filled with slushy booze flavors, Fat Tuesday features crowd favorites like the 190 Octane, Cat 5 Hurricane, 44 Magnum, Miami Vice, Rocket Fuel, and Pain in the Ass. Alongside these refreshing drinks, the menu also offers tasty options like wings and pizzas, adding a delicious twist to their drink-centric focus.

Founded in New Orleans in 1984, Fat Tuesday has since expanded to 87 locations across the country. However, this isn’t the first time the chain has opened in Ybor City; the original location launched just down the street in 1994. Despite facing initial criticism for contributing to the “saturation” of big box chains in the area, Fat Tuesday is back, ready to offer its signature slushies and unforgettable atmosphere once again
