Juneteenth, born of delayed liberty, marks the arrival of Union troops in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, bearing news of emancipation—two and a half years after President Lincoln’s “Emancipation Proclamation.” The soldiers didn’t just bring freedom; they brought truth. That day, and every June 19th since, represents a sacred acknowledgment of African American resilience, dignity, and triumph.
