Tampa transformed into a LEGO lover’s paradise this weekend, as enthusiasts from all over gathered for the Brick Fan Expo at the Florida State Fairgrounds. LEGO fans like Heather Boyette donned their most colorful brick-inspired outfits, immersing themselves in a world of creativity and fun.
“It’s just fun to see how everybody…adults, kids of all ages, love playing with LEGO,” Boyette shared with FOX 13, capturing the spirit of the event that drew in thousands of fans.
The expo featured an array of moving trains, intricate contraptions, and incredibly detailed sculptures, alongside larger-than-life LEGO cities. Visitors had the chance to admire these stunning creations, all meticulously crafted by talented brick artists who traveled from across the country to showcase their work.
Attendees were also thrilled to meet some of the LEGO Masters. Season 4 contestant Tim Hutchings, along with alumni from the popular FOX series—including Season 2 winners Mark and Steven Erickson, and Season 3 contestant Christine “Tacos” Blandino—were on hand to interact with fans, share their experiences, and build alongside them.
“It was the most awesome experience,” Hutchings exclaimed, reflecting on his time on the show. “My classmates were some of the best people in the world to hang with, to build with.”
Tacos echoed the sentiment, adding, “I get to do this, I wake up every day, some people get up and do their job and do what they have to, but I get paid to play, so it’s a dream come true.”
The Bay Area proved to be an ideal setting for this bricktastic event. “Tampa was phenomenal,” Hutchings emphasized. “We had a really great crowd, a lot of fun people.” FOX 13 News initially published the story.
