Halloween expenditures by Americans are forecasted to amount to $12.2 billion, as per a survey

In Tampa, Florida, Halloween is looming large, with Americans gearing up to collectively invest $12.2 billion this year.

According to the National Retail Federation, this translates to an average of approximately $108 per person. Interestingly, this spending has surged by approximately $2 billion in comparison to last year’s Halloween festivities.

Amidst the escalating costs, some consumers are adopting resourceful approaches to keep their budgets in check.

These tactics include crafting do-it-yourself (DIY) costumes, cutting down on accessories, or simply delving into their own wardrobes in search of something suitable to wear.

“Last year I spent a lot of money on a costume that I wore once then threw away, so I feel like trying to make sure that I get as much bang for my buck, so going in there and making sure I could wear it again because Halloween is on Tuesday, just making sure it’s something I could wear again,” said Sean Hunt, who bought his costume over the weekend.

According to consumer reports, nearly a quarter of Americans intend to recycle costumes they’ve worn in previous years, while 34% of individuals are opting for more budget-friendly Halloween candy purchases.
