DeSantis Supports Tampa Judge Making Waves with Legal Precedents

Governor Ron DeSantis has elevated Judge Anne-Leigh Gaylord Moe, a Tampa native, to the Florida Second District Court of Appeal. Known for her impactful decisions, Moe has become a pivotal figure in shaping local legal and government policy. She currently serves as one of 12 circuit judges in the 13th Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County.

Judge Moe recently issued a groundbreaking ruling nullifying the Tampa City Council’s authority to rezone property, sparking major debates in Tampa’s real estate and legal communities. In her July and December rulings, Moe emphasized that the Florida Constitution doesn’t permit the council to exercise quasi-judicial powers, altering how the city has operated for decades.
