Solid Waste Collection Paused in Tampa: When Service Will Resume

The City of Tampa’s Department of Solid Waste has temporarily suspended recycling collection in response to the “unprecedented amounts” of storm debris left by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The city’s decision comes after both storms slammed into Florida within just a few weeks. On Friday, all residential recycling services were halted, with the city set to resume operations by Monday.

Over the weekend, crews will prioritize storm debris removal, shifting their efforts to help bring neighborhoods back to pre-hurricane conditions. While regular garbage services for residential and commercial customers continue, all yard waste and recycling collection remains suspended until further notice. Residents are encouraged to follow specific guidelines for storm debris disposal to ensure efficient collection.
