Tampa Awaits Reopening After Yummy House Fire

Tampa diners are waiting for reopening news after the Yummy House fire.

The fire at Yummy House China Bistro has now shifted from a breaking Tampa emergency into a community-wide wait for the restaurant’s reopening. The fire happened on Thursday, April 9, when Tampa Fire Rescue responded to the Hillsborough Avenue location and said the incident was a kitchen fire that was under control by 9 a.m., with no injuries reported and all employees evacuated safely.

In the first hours after the incident, the focus was on the fire, the emergency response, and nearby road closures. Officials said westbound Hillsborough Avenue was closed between 30th Street and 22nd Street while crews worked the scene, turning what began as a restaurant emergency into a wider disruption for the surrounding area.
