TECO Streetcar Funding Secured—Free Rides Continue

Great news for Tampa commuters and visitors—the TECO Line Streetcar will continue offering free rides for another year! The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports that the Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board has secured $700,000 in funding to keep the service fare-free through fiscal year 2025. This initiative ensures that residents and tourists alike can enjoy seamless, cost-free transportation across the city.

In a decisive 6-1 vote, the CRA Board confirmed funding contributions from its Community Advisory Committees (CACs): the Ybor City CRA allocated $234,000, while both the Channel District CRA and Downtown CRA each provided $233,000. Councilman Charlie Miranda was the only dissenting vote.
