With hurricane cleanup efforts still in progress, there’s a growing focus on maintaining our sidewalks, parks, and public spaces clean on a regular basis. So, how can we help? One solution is joining local Adopt-A-Road and Adopt-A-Street programs, where residents actively contribute to cleaning up litter, leaves, and other debris to keep our community pristine.

Adopt-A-Road Programs: Make an Impact in Your Neighborhood

Tampa and Hillsborough County residents can explore volunteer opportunities through the Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful Adopt-A-Road Program. But it doesn’t stop at roads—participants can adopt parks, shorelines, HART shelters, WATERGOAT stations, or monofilament tubes located at boat ramps and fishing piers. Simply fill out an online form at least two weeks in advance, specifying your preferred location, group size, and the date and time. KTBB provides waivers and all the necessary cleaning supplies to get the job done!

Pinellas Trail Adopt-A-Mile: Clear Your Favorite Local Spots

For those in St. Petersburg, you can keep the Pinellas Trail, a local biking and walking favorite, safe and free from hazards through the Pinellas Trail Adopt-A-Mile Program. This initiative, managed by Keep Pinellas Beautiful, offers opportunities to adopt alleyways, shorelines, miles, and various community spaces to keep public areas clean and enjoyable for all.

Adopt-A-Highway: Keep Our Highways Litter-Free

Have you noticed the Adopt-A-Highway dedication signs while commuting along I-275? Your name could appear on one of those signs too! By signing up with the Florida Department of Transportation, you can keep a two-mile stretch of highway clean. Requirements include removing litter four times per year, a two-year commitment, and adhering to safety protocols. For more information, call (813) 975-6060 to reach your local office.
