Kumba Set to Close at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay After 33 Years

Kumba will take its final public ride at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay on August 2, ending a 33-year run in Tampa.

The Kumba closing will mark the end of an era for generations of Florida coaster fans. After 33 years of loops, drops and high-speed thrills, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will permanently retire its oldest operating roller coaster on August 2, 2026.

For many local riders, Kumba’s 33-year run represents decades of family visits and theme park memories. The coaster introduced countless Tampa thrill seekers to major inversions, while its announced successor, Kumba’s Revenge, promises to carry that legacy forward.
