Two people were found dead in what investigators suspect was a murder-suicide late Friday night in downtown Tampa. Responding to a report of a missing woman around 9 p.m., deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office began searching the area near the 2800 block of Cedaridge Drive.
Shortly after midnight, authorities discovered the woman, identified as Waleska Gomez Barroeta, 28, deceased inside a parked car at the Heron apartment complex on 815 Water Street. According to officials, her husband, Franklin Vegas Delgado, 31, had called a family member earlier that evening, allegedly confessing to taking her life.
After leaving the scene, Delgado reportedly fled on foot. Law enforcement later found him at approximately 1:20 a.m. with apparent self-inflicted wounds at the Marriott Waterside Hotel, about half a mile from the Heron apartments.
“Our hearts go out to the victims’ family and friends dealing with this overwhelming tragedy,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This is a sorrowful reminder that violence is never a solution.” WFLA initially published the story.
The incident remains under active investigation as authorities seek further answers.
