Tampa may be gearing up for one of its most closely watched mayoral races in years, and Gary Hartfield is emerging as a name to watch. With about two years left until the 2027 Tampa mayoral election, the local entrepreneur is weighing his decision to enter the race — a move that could shake up an already competitive political landscape.

Two candidates — Alan Jared Henderson and Julie Magill — have officially filed. Mayor Jane Castor, limited by terms, will not seek re-election. And while former Mayor Bob Buckhorn and current City Council member Bill Carlson are seen as potential front-runners, Hartfield’s entry could add a fresh, dynamic voice to the conversation.
