A Winter Haven man tragically died Friday following a crash on Interstate 275 in Tampa.

The crash happened on I-275 northbound near Ashley Drive at approximately 2:40 p.m., according to reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol stated that the motorcyclist veered from the right lane to the area at the end of the entrance ramp, colliding with the back of a Tesla Model 3 attempting to merge onto the interstate.

The motorcycle came to rest in the right lane, while the Tesla stopped along the shoulder. The 47-year-old motorcyclist, a resident of Winter Haven, was transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Tesla, a 49-year-old woman from Lithia, and her 19-year-old female passenger, were not hurt in the crash, officials confirmed.
