Several days after Hurricane Milton made landfall as a powerful Category 3 storm in Siesta Key, many residents remain without power. Customers with Duke Energy, TECO, and FPL are still waiting anxiously for power restoration, with some providers predicting it may take a few more days.

Duke Energy: Over 400,000 Floridians Still Without Power

As of Sunday morning, over 400,000 Floridians are still without power, with more than 16,000 active power outages. Approximately 17,000 residents in Polk County and 4,600 in Hernando County are affected, but the majority of outages in these areas are expected to be restored by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Meanwhile, 286,000 residents in Pinellas County and 28,000 in Pasco County remain in the dark, with Duke Energy projecting restoration by Tuesday at 11:59 p.m.

TECO: Utility Workers in Action

TECO has mobilized 6,000 utility workers across the Tampa Bay area to speed up restoration efforts. Pasco County residents should see their power restored by Monday, while Polk County can expect full restoration by Tuesday. Hillsborough and Pinellas County residents will have to wait until Thursday for full power restoration. TECO emphasizes that while these are estimated timelines, many customers will regain power before the projected dates.

FPL: Restoration Progress in Manatee and Sarasota

In Manatee County, nearly 65,000 customers remain without power, with FPL estimating that 95% of customers will have power back by Wednesday. In Sarasota County, about 59,000 residents are still waiting for power, with the same 95% restoration goal by Wednesday. WFLA initially published the story.
