St. Petersburg residents can take advantage of a free Christmas tree disposal program through a citywide collection initiative running from January 11 to February 10, 2025. This one-time service makes it easy to responsibly discard live Christmas trees. To ensure your tree is picked up, place it at the curb or alley (where your trash is collected) by 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 11.
Collection Guidelines for Live Trees
To participate in the city’s Christmas tree collection, follow these guidelines:
- Remove all decorations, including lights, ornaments, and tree stands. Consider reusing or donating these items to minimize waste.
- Do not place the tree in trash or recycling bins, or lean it against poles or other objects.
- Ensure your tree is outside and ready for pickup by 7 a.m. on January 11.
The City requests patience, as it may take up to four weeks to collect all trees.
