It’s the spookiest time of the year, and Tampa knows how to celebrate. From haunted ships to ghost tours on a water taxi, and a giant horror theme park, Tampa offers a variety of thrilling experiences, including the iconic Nightmare on Franklin Street. These spine-tingling activities are just a few reasons why Tampa was named one of the top cities to celebrate Halloween by Wallethub in 2023.

The Wallethub survey evaluated cities based on Trick-or-Treater friendliness, an abundance of Halloween events for both kids and adults, and the ideal Halloween weather. With attractions like Florida’s largest pumpkin at Bearss Groves and spooky movie screenings under the stars in a pumpkin patch, it’s clear why Tampa secured a spot in the top 30 Halloween cities.
Wallethub analyzed 100 of the largest U.S. cities across three key categories to determine the rankings. Trick-or-treater friendliness factored in walkability, pedestrian safety, population density, and the number of potential trick-or-treaters, giving Tampa an edge in this ranking.
The study also took into account the number of amusement parks per capita, pumpkin patches per capita, and the availability of candy and sweet shops. With Halloween forecast looking great, expect to see trick-or-treaters making their way along the Tampa Riverwalk for a night of spooky fun.
