Park & Rec in Downtown Tampa Closes Its Doors

Park & Rec, a downtown Tampa bar and restaurant, has closed its doors for good. The concept, which was operated by parent company Hunger Thirst Group, had been the subject of a contentious 2020 lawsuit and was located at 290 S. Meridian St.

The news was announced late Thursday night by Stephen Schrutt, founder and CEO of Hunger Thirst Group. “I’m glad we gave the Tampa location a good run, but looking back, it wasn’t the right fit for the concept,” said Schrutt.

The news also comes with some positive updates for Hunger Thirst Group’s other concepts— all six remain open despite this closure. With locations throughout the Tampa Bay area such as No Vacancy, Lost & Found, Avenue, Good Fortune and others, there are still plenty of options to get your favorite bites and drinks from HTG.

Reported by Biz Journal Tampa Bay. When asked who purchased Park & Rec, a representative with Hunger Thirst told BJTB that it was “a group in Gainesville.” No other details of the sale were revealed.

Park and Rec St Pete location will remain open.
