Get Ready for Sumo Wrestling at Tampa’s Armature Works This August
A unique cultural event is set to captivate Tampa as champion sumo wrestlers arrive for an exhilarating evening of matches. On August 24, fans will have the rare opportunity to witness authentic sumo bouts between top Japanese champions, celebrating the strength, skill, and rich traditions of this ancient sport at Armature Works (1910 N Ola Ave).
The Sushi and Sumo Battle will take place at The Gathering inside the food hall and events venue, starting at 6:30pm. This event promises not only the excitement of live sumo wrestling but also a culinary treat. Attendees can enhance their experience with an omakase sushi box, crafted by the talented chefs at Zukku Sushi and HAN Hand Roll Bar, to enjoy during the matches.

We eagerly anticipate welcoming the sumo champions to our city,” said Ferdian Jap, Managing Partner at Majestic Restaurant Group and Big City Events. Both companies are collaborating to produce this event.
Tickets for the Sushi and Sumo Battle start at $50 and include a $15 food voucher redeemable at select food vendors at Armature Works, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening. This event is expected to draw a diverse crowd, eager to explore the unique blend of Japanese culture and cuisine.
