BEER CAN ISLAND IS UP FOR SALE FOR $14.2M CLOSING ACCESS TO THE PUBLIC
Ever dreamt of owning a private island? Now’s your chance! For $14.2 million, you could be the proud owner of Beer Can Island, a popular party spot in Tampa Bay. Formerly known as Pine Key, this island, which was purchased by a group of friends in 2017 for just $64,000, is now closed to the public and up for sale.
Excitingly, the island will also be auctioned off as an NFT for cryptocurrency, with cash offers being accepted too. Offers are open immediately, with the auction set to kick off in early March 2024 and conclude on April 1, 2024. The highest bidder will secure ownership of this incredible island.
The previous proprietors of Beer Can Island constructed tiki huts on the premises, as seen in the provided image courtesy of Judge Public Relations.
In 2023, concerns were raised by Hillsborough County leaders regarding the island’s activities, citing difficulties in accessing first responders in case of emergencies. County Commissioner Michael Owen, at that time, advocated for designating the island as a private preserve, with intentions to close the bar.
Currently, the island lacks zoning. According to a press release, it encompasses nine acres of uplands adorned with pine trees, along with over 60 acres of submerged lands encircling the island.
