According to USA Today, Tropicana Field, where the Tampa Bay Rays play, has been rated as the second-worst baseball stadium in Major League Baseball. USA Today conducted a survey with eight baseball reporters and editors who ranked all 30 stadiums, and then combined the scores to determine the final rankings.

USA Today commented, “The two most crucial points about The Trop are: the team has tried to make this sterile environment more welcoming, and there may be a solid plan in place to replace it.” The only stadium ranked lower than Tropicana Field was the Oakland Athletics’ Oakland Coliseum. PNC Park in Pittsburgh was rated as the best ballpark in MLB according to the survey.

Tropicana Field maintained its position from the 2023 USA Today rankings, where it was also ranked 29th out of 30. Last year, Sports Illustrated ranked it as the worst ballpark.

Despite its low ranking for the ballpark itself, Tropicana Field’s concessions were found to be among the best in MLB. A study by OntarioBets considered factors such as concessions per square foot, concessions per stadium capacity, beer price per ounce, and hot dog price. Tropicana Field was ranked seventh for concessions, with beer priced at $0.35 per ounce and a hot dog priced at $5.

The Rays will continue to play at The Trop until their lease expires in 2027, with plans to start the 2028 season in their new stadium.
