Celebrate Filipino Culture and Cuisine: PhilFest 2023

Ready for an opportunity to indulge in the rich and diverse culture of the Philippines. PhilFest, a 3-day Filipino Food Festival, returns to Tampa, Florida from March 31 through April 2, 2022, promising to offer three full days of entertainment, music, and of course, delicious Filipino food. The festival is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the history, traditions, and the varied flavors of the Philippines, all while experiencing a taste of its vibrant culture.

History and Cultural Significance:

The first PhilFest took place in 1996, with the vision of bringing together the Filipino-American community in Tampa Bay. Since then, PhilFest has grown and evolved to become one of the most significant events celebrating Filipino culture and heritage in the United States. From showcasing traditional dance performances to offering a diverse range of authentic Filipino cuisine, PhilFest has become a platform to honor and celebrate the contributions of the Filipino-American community to the American society.

Entertainment:

Non-stop entertainment will also dote the PhilFest stage with presentations by PCFI’s resident performing groups, cultural shows by visiting performers from other states including groups from Canada. PhilFest also offers entertainment segments like “Tanghalang Pambata” Talent Competition for Children, “Tawag ng Tanghalan” Singing Competition for Adults, “Revolution” Youth Night and Hip-hop Dance Competition, “Yugyugan” Street Dancing, and many more! Highlight of the festival is an hour with R&B singer and songwriter Kiana Valenciano brought by The Filipino Channel and Pinoy at Iba Pa, PhilFest’s major sponsors.

PhilFest 2023 will also be conducting the search for the next “Miss/Mrs PhilFest” from the eight contestants, each representing her Filipino-American organization. One will get to see the contestants along with other participants in street parades like “Flores de PhilFest” and “Grand PhilFest Parade”.

The Filipino-American community and their contributions to American society take the center stage at PhilFest- visitors can learn about traditional crafts, heritage, language, and cultural practices. The festival offers an opportunity to connect with members of the Filipino-American community, discuss their experiences, and learn from them. Not only is PhilFest an ode to Filipino culture, but it also offers a chance to build bonds and share conversations.
