In 2024, Tampa was recognized as one of the best places to retire in a recent study conducted by WalletHub.

The analysis evaluated 45 key factors across 182 U.S. cities, including cost of living, tax regulations, recreational activities, and the overall quality of health care available.

WalletHub ranked Tampa as the fourth-best city for retirement, trailing behind Orlando, Miami, and Minneapolis. Rounding out the top five was Fort Lauderdale.

Additionally, St. Petersburg was highlighted as the seventh-best location for retirement, according to WalletHub’s findings.

“The top cities for retirees are those that offer lower taxes, reduced expenses, and provide opportunities for seniors to continue paid work if they wish,” WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo explained in a statement.

In fact, seven of the top 20 retirement destinations in the U.S. are located in Florida.
