Historic GTE Building Comes Down in Downtown Tampa This Week

The Historic GTE Building is coming down in downtown Tampa, closing a major chapter of local history tied to newspapers, architecture, redevelopment, and nearly 100 years of change in the city’s core.

Crews are now demolishing the building at the corner of Tampa and Twiggs, located at 601 N Ashley Dr., after the property was recently purchased by Stock Development. No public redevelopment plans for the site have been announced yet.
