What’s Closed in Tampa Bay – Tropical Storm Idalia

With Tropical Storm Idalia on the horizon, a number of businesses in Tampa Bay are taking the precaution to close. We will strive to provide ongoing updates as information becomes available and in line with announcements from Tampa Bay authorities. Remember to stay tuned to updates from local emergency officials and meteorologists for the latest information.

TAMPA BAY CLOSURES:

Florida Aquarium:

The aquarium will be closed on Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30 due to Idalia.

The Dali Museum:

The Dali will be closed on Tuesday, August 29 due to Idalia.

Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA):

PSTA is closely monitoring the situation regarding Tropical Storm Idalia. At this time no evacuation order has been issued, and bus service is operating as normal. (8/28/2023 9:00 AM)

Clearwater Marine Aquarium:

CMA will close at 3:00 pm on Monday, August 28 and will remain closed on Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30 due to Idalia.

Amalie Arena

Tampa’s Amalie Arena has rescheduled Tuesday’s $ucideboy$ concert for Nov. 5. Tickets purchased for the original date will be honored for the new date; refunds are available at the original point of purchase through Sept. 28.

Florida Aquarium:

The aquarium will be closed on Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30 due to Idalia.

ZooTampa:

Due to Tropical Storm Idalia will be closed to guests on Tuesday, August 29 for storm preparations and on Wednesday, August 30 for projected severe weather.

Tampa International Airport:

Tampa International Airport will close at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday

St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport:

The airport’s terminal building will close at 3:00 pm Tuesday and will reopen at 3:00 pm on Wednesday. Wednesday flights for Allegiant will be canceled.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Following the latest updates on Tropical Storm Idalia, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will close at 3 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, and remain closed on Wednesday, August 30.

Ruth Eckerd Hall

Tuesday’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Live in Concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater has been postponed. Ticketholders will be contacted directly via e-mail and tickets will be honored for the new performance date, which will be announced soon. 

Straz Jr. Center 

The David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts will be closed through Wednesday (no performances were scheduled). Classes and activities at the Patel Conservatory have been canceled Tuesday-Wednesday; parents and students will be contacted by a representative. The facility plans to reopen on Thursday, conditions permitting.
