Downtown Tampa waterfront may soon showcase an exciting new attraction: a 250-foot observation wheel. Local developer Tony Miller has officially announced plans for Tampa WOW!—Tampa’s Wheel Over Water—an iconic addition designed to bring sweeping views of Tampa Bay to locals and visitors alike.

A Landmark Addition to Tampa’s Skyline

Standing tall at 250 feet, the new observation wheel will reshape Downtown Tampa’s skyline with a dazzling focal point. Strategically located just north of The Florida Aquarium, the project will occupy one-third of an acre along the bustling Channel District. Riders can look forward to a 20–30 minute journey in climate-controlled gondolas, offering panoramic views of the glittering waterfront and the city skyline.

For updates and official announcements, visitors can follow Tampa WOW! official site and stay connected via their social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter).

Creating a World-Class Family Destination

“As we’ve shared the vision, the community response has been overwhelmingly positive,” said developer Tony Miller. More than just an observation wheel, Tampa WOW! is designed to become a world-class destination that fosters connection and creates unforgettable experiences.

At the base of the attraction, guests will discover concessions serving food and beverages, as well as convenient luggage storage for cruise passengers. Thanks to its walkable location, the wheel will seamlessly connect Tampa’s major downtown destinations, including Benchmark International Arena, Water Street, the convention center, and nearby cruise terminals.

Boosting Tourism and the Local Economy

Visit Tampa Bay President and CEO Santiago Corrada is enthusiastic about the project’s potential. “A transformative new attraction such as Tampa WOW! to our beautiful Tampa Riverwalk will provide more opportunities for our community to grow and develop, and give visitors and residents a new highlight to explore.”

By enhancing the Tampa Riverwalk, the project will attract even more visitors to enjoy Tampa Bay’s culture, world-class dining, and exciting entertainment options. This move solidifies Tampa’s reputation as a hub for tourism growth and economic expansion.

Community Support for the Observation Wheel

Backing for Tampa WOW! extends beyond tourism leaders. The Florida Aquarium has also voiced strong support. “With the addition of Tampa WOW!, the transformation of Tampa into a world-class destination for families takes another major step forward,” said Aquarium President and CEO Roger Germann.

This privately funded $20 million investment ensures no cost to taxpayers, making it a win-win for residents and the community. If approved by Tampa City Council, the wheel is slated to open in fall 2026, creating yet another must-visit attraction on the waterfront.

Tampa’s Future Looks Bright

With its soaring design and sweeping waterfront views, the Tampa observation wheel promises to become a defining landmark for the city. Blending entertainment, tourism, and community spirit, Tampa WOW! is more than just a ride—it’s an invitation to see Tampa from a whole new perspective.

Will this bold project redefine how both locals and visitors experience the city? One thing is certain—Tampa’s future is rising sky-high.
