Amazon's TPA Exit Prompts Closure of an Air Cargo Firm

Amazon to cease operations at Tampa International Airport this fall.

E-commerce giant, Amazon, made a strategic move in 2019 by relocating its air cargo facility from Tampa to Lakeland Linder International Airport. This decision was driven by the need for additional space. In 2020, the massive Lakeland air cargo facility was unveiled, establishing itself as one of the largest in the Southeast.[ihc-hide-content ihc_mb_type=”show” ihc_mb_who=”3″ ihc_mb_template=”1″ ]

Amazon’s full departure from Hillsborough County has had a significant impact on local workers. On October 12th, 26 non-union employees at LGSTX Services Inc. will be let go. This decision was confirmed by an airport spokesperson on August 11th.

Amazon’s abrupt and unexpected choice to end its operations services was outlined in a letter from LGSTX President James Pradetto. This stunning development was shared with Mayor Jane Castor and the state’s rapid response coordinator.

LGSTX declined to comment, however, Amazon explained that they made the decision to streamline operations with their current facility in Lakeland.

“We’re consolidating our Tampa operations to our nearby facility at Lakeland Linder International Airport,” Amazon spokesperson Sam Stephenson said. “As we’re always evaluating our operations to better serve our customers, Lakeland offers the flexibility to efficiently scale in response to customer demand while not impacting customer deliveries in the area.”

Attention-grabbing: “Breaking News: Company’s Tampa operations experience dramatic decline, dropping from 42.4% to 34.4% in just four years!”

Clear and concise: “Company’s Tampa operations plummet from 42.4% to 34.4% in 2023, accounting for 1.1% of all TPA operations.”

Readability and appeal: “Stunning Shift: Company’s Tampa operations take a nosedive, shrinking from 42.4% to 34.4% in just four years! This accounts for a mere 1.1% of all TPA operations in 2023.”

Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) is making changes to its private-label business, according to a recent report by the Wall Street Journal. The company plans to eliminate 27 out of its 30 clothing brands in an effort to address antitrust concerns and improve profits.

LGSTX Expands, Leaving Tampa Behind!

LGSTX, the Ohio-based company, is expanding its operations but will no longer have a presence in Tampa. Last week, they posted a job opening that is still available. Don’t miss out!

“It is very sad to know that a company that was always so stable and that gave support to so many Hispanics ends up closing a station and leaving behind five years of so much effort,” an employee wrote on LinkedIn.[/ihc-hide-content]
