Where You Can Find Sandbags in Tampa Bay Before the Expected Tropical Storm Hits

Tropical Storm Idalia is gaining strength near Mexico’s Yucatán Channel and Floridians need to prepare and have a solid hurricane plan in place.
Prepare for Hurricane Idalia at Tampa Bay sandbag stations this weekend. Stay ahead of the storm with free sandbags provided by local governments.
Don’t rely on sandbags alone! They may help with minor water intrusion, but they won’t protect you from the devastating effects of storm surge and major flooding.
Pinellas County
Get free sandbags in St. Petersburg, available all year round! The sandbag station is conveniently located at 1744 9th Ave. N., at the Pavement and Traffic Operations Building. And now, with the threat of Idalia looming, we’re extending our hours of operation from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays and Mondays. Don’t wait, prepare for the storm ahead!
The following locations will have self-service sandbags available:
- Lake Vista Recreation Center, tennis court parking lot, 12th Street S and 60th Avenue S
- Lakewood sports complex parking lot, 2001 Country Club Way S

- Garden Club of St. Petersburg, 500 Sunset Drive S
The following full-service locations will have city staff available to fill sandbags between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday:

Pinellas County is now offering sandbag distribution locations for unincorporated residents. Don’t miss out, as supplies are limited. Stop by from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday to grab up to 10 sandbags per vehicle. Just bring your identification to prove your residency. We’ll provide everything you need – sand, bags, and shovels. All you have to do is fill up the bags and be prepared for any storm that comes your way.

Three sandbag distribution sites have been activated for your convenience. Seniors and residents with special needs can access the sites from 8 a.m. to noon. The general public can access them from noon onwards. Don’t miss out on this essential resource! Here are the locations:

Just show us proof of residence within city limits with your valid driver’s license, utility bill, or electric bill. Limit of 10 bags per person. Hurry, our sites are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until further notice.
