Things To Do
You Can Help Name the Sweet New White Rhino Calf at Busch Gardens!
Step aside, Moo Deng—there’s a new star on the rise. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay proudly welcomes a female southern white rhino calf into its herd. Born to the experienced mother, Kisiri, this healthy calf weighed in at an impressive 100 pounds at birth. Soon, she’ll make her debut in the park’s stunning 65-acre Serengeti Plain, where she’ll roam alongside a diverse array of African wildlife, including zebras, ostriches, giraffes, and various species of antelope.
Help Name Busch Gardens’ Newest Arrival
To commemorate the arrival of this precious calf, Busch Gardens is inviting rhino lovers everywhere to take part in a limited-time online poll to help choose her name. The options, inspired by the beautiful Swahili language, are Azizi, meaning “precious treasure”; Zahara, meaning “flower”; and Zina, translating to “secret” or “beautiful.” The poll is live now and will close on September 28, 2024. Once the votes are in, the calf’s new name will be unveiled through the park’s social media platforms.
See the New Rhino Calf in Action
Visitors will soon have the chance to see the rhino calf in person, as she is expected to join her mother and the rest of the herd on the Serengeti Plain in the coming days. Not only will guests witness her growth firsthand, but they’ll also watch as she rapidly gains around 100 pounds every month. Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to witness one of nature’s most majestic animals thrive in her new home.
