Akima, a billion-dollar defense contractor specializing in military IT support, has officially opened its doors in Tampa. This strategic move is part of an initiative to align business growth with serving MacDill Air Force Base in South Tampa. The Virginia-based company aims to strengthen its commitment to the defense community through its local presence.

A Grand Opening at Rocky Point

The new office launch was celebrated with a ceremony at The Pointe in Tampa’s Rocky Point neighborhood. The event saw participation from prominent stakeholders, including U.S. Special Operations Command service members, leaders from the Special Operations Forces Preparation program, and local representatives from organizations like the National Defense Industrial Association and Women in Defense. Representatives from Habitat for Humanity, the Veterans Arts Center, and the Tampa Bay Chamber also attended, showcasing the company’s focus on community collaboration.
