USA Today recognizes a Tampa eatery as the ‘best budget-friendly restaurant’ in the nation
If you’re in search of an affordable dining experience, there’s no need to look any further than this Tampa restaurant, which has been awarded the prestigious title of “Best Cheap Place to Eat in the U.S.” by USA Today.
In their extensive evaluation, this national news outlet considered a whopping 28,000 budget-friendly restaurants across 50 cities in the United States. To be eligible for consideration, a restaurant had to be classified with a single dollar sign on Google’s cost scale and must have garnered more than 200 reviews.
Mickey’s Subs in Tampa not only met but exceeded these criteria with just shy of 500 reviews and an impeccable 5-star rating, securing its position as the number one destination for affordable dining in the entire nation.
At Mickey’s Subs, they take pride in using locally baked bread, premium Boar’s Head meats, and their own house-made sauces, which together create the perfect flavor profile for each delectable sub.
“Here at Mickey’s Subs we refuse to sell just another sub like the other guys,” the store’s website says. “We strive to provide the highest quality, best tasting premium subs available in the Tampa Bay area.”
“Mickey’s is my go-to stop for lunch!” one customer raved. “His housemade Parmy [sic] sauce is delicious and his subs are consistently the best around.”
Several dining establishments in the Tampa Bay area have earned their place on the esteemed list of the Best Cheap Places to Eat in the U.S. Here are the local eateries that made the cut:
- Tampa Bay Empanadas (Ranked 4th)
- Chicago Paulie’s (Ranked 46th)
- Florish (Ranked 48th)
- The Mediterranean Chickpea (Ranked 59th)
- Island Fin Poké Company – Wesley Chapel (Ranked 60th)
In addition to these individual accolades, the City of Tampa has contributed to its reputation as a culinary destination, ranking among the top 10 cities in the entire nation for the highest average rating of budget-friendly eateries, boasting an impressive average rating of 4.716.
