A man is dead after shots were fired in the roadway at Regents Park Drive on Monday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced.
The incident occurred in the 19000 block of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard at about 2:50 p.m. Deputies responded to multiple calls reporting gunfire and discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Currently, a suspect is not in custody. However, the sheriff’s office has indicated that this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public. “My client is a competitive shooter, and he said somebody definitely emptied an entire magazine,” Saree Purcell, the owner of a nearby business, commented.
Deputies are actively interviewing witnesses, running license plates, and reviewing surveillance footage from the surrounding area to gather more information about the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
