Tampa Bay Buccaneers Expand Global Reach with German Airline Deal
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have set sail on a groundbreaking venture, expanding their Krewe to new horizons across the Atlantic. In a move that marks a historic milestone, the team has inked a multi-year partnership with Discover Airlines, their first foray into the German market.
Discover Airlines CEO Bernd Bauer highlighted the mutual benefits of this alliance, stating, “We realized that lots of the fans in Germany, they like to travel and see other things and Florida is probably one of the best places. For us, it’s one of the most important destinations.”
This strategic partnership is the culmination of a journey that began three years ago when the Bucs were granted international home rights for the German market. The pivotal moment came in 2022 when the team faced off against the Seattle Seahawks in the inaugural NFL regular season game on German soil.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Owner Bryan Glazer reflected on the overwhelming response, saying, “While we knew they loved NFL football, the response we received blew away all of our expectations.” The atmosphere at Munich’s Allianz Arena was electric, with every seat filled as the NFL made history.
The Bucs emerged victorious with a 21-16 win, but the real triumph was the connection forged with German fans. Glazer vividly recalls the experience, noting, “To this day, when people ask me about great sports experiences, I tell them that trip to Germany was one of the greatest sports trips of my entire life.”
Building on the enthusiasm of German NFL enthusiasts, this multi-year agreement with Discover Airlines represents a significant step in bridging the gap between German fans and the Tampa Bay area. It’s a strategic move that promises to bring the excitement of the Buccaneers to a whole new audience while offering German fans a direct route to experience the thrill of NFL action in person. WFLA initially published the story.
