Hyde Park Village Anticipates the Arrival of 'ro,' a Luxury Sushi Concept

In Hyde Park Village, a hub for fine dining experiences, a new addition is set to join the already impressive lineup.

Ro, an upscale Japanese eatery with a focus on high-end sushi, is poised to open its doors this month at 1500 W Swann Ave. While an exact opening date is yet to be confirmed, a representative from Three Oaks Hospitality is expected to provide the details to Creative Loafing Tampa Bay soon.

The culinary helm at Ro will be under the guidance of Chef Kiichi Okabe, a Michelin-starred chef with a global culinary background, having worked at prestigious dining establishments in various cities such as Japan, Dubai, Las Vegas, and notably, Singapore’s Shoukouwa, which earned two Michelin stars in 2016 under Chef Okabe’s exceptional leadership.

Chef Okabe’s extensive career has been marked by a dedication to showcasing the freshest Japanese ingredients, from indulgent caviar presentations to elaborate multi-course omakase experiences.

Anticipating the arrival of ‘ro’ in Hyde Park, diners can look forward to an extensive sushi selection featuring the finest seafood sourced from Tokyo’s renowned Toyosu Market. Additionally, the restaurant will offer table-side Peking duck, a dish requiring advance ordering due to its intricate preparation, as well as an A5 wagyu entrée, as reported by Thatsotampa.

Among the diverse menu offerings are salmon crudo, wagyu gyoza served with chili ponzu sauce, flambeed lamb chops, and pork belly ramen. To complement the high-end Japanese cuisine, ‘ro’ will feature a range of signature cocktails.

The brainchild of Three Oaks Hospitality Group, ‘ro’ is the latest addition to their portfolio, which includes popular establishments such as Armature Works’ Steelbach, Stones Throw, M. Bird, Kipos, and Ciro’s Speakeasy in South Tampa. Furthermore, the hospitality group is gearing up to unveil another fresh concept in Harbour Island.

In a neighboring locality, a similar Japanese concept named Kōsen is also preparing for its grand opening in Tampa Heights.
