Tampa International Airport (TPA) recently broke a single-day passenger record with over 90,000 travelers passing through on March 19, 2023. This impressive record was set thanks to the annual influx of spring break visitors, which always makes March the busiest month of the year for TPA. The previous runner-up record was set on March 11, with nearly 89,000 passengers traveling through; with March 18 coming in at a close third with roughly 88,000. This year’s spring break period was immediately projected to be a record-breaking one, and the numbers certainly did not disappoint. In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at what this record-breaking milestone means for TPA, and what the future has in store.

TPA’s high levels of customer satisfaction is its consistently high rankings year after year as one of the best airports in the United States. In 2022, Tampa International Airport now holds the No. 1 ranking in J.D. Power’s annual traveler satisfaction study among large airports, a title that comes as no surprise given the airport’s commitment to providing the best possible customer experience. This title now includes not just TPA’s impressive facilities but also the airport’s ability to handle peak passenger volumes during the busiest times of the year.

But this single-day passenger record is also a sign of what’s to come in the future; passenger volumes are only projected to grow higher in the years ahead. As a result, TPA is committed to keeping up with the industry’s demand as part of its ongoing plans to provide the best possible experience for all travelers. One of TPA’s goals is to implement technology to speed up the check-in process, security lines, and baggage handling, making travel less stressful and more efficient for all passengers while maintaining the highest levels of safety.

Another cornerstone of TPA’s success has been the airport’s ability to work closely with local businesses and airlines to provide a top-notch customer experience. According to Airport Vice President of Operations, Adam Bouchard, “Our passenger volume is only projected to grow in the future, so we will continue to work diligently with our airline and business partners to maintain the high level of safety, service and customer satisfaction our travelers expect from Tampa International Airport.”
