Water Street Tampa Commemorates Black History Month with Community Marketplace
The Water Street Tampa Market showcases a diverse array of more than 60 local vendors and rotating artisans, offering live entertainment and public art for a vibrant and engaging experience.
Water Street Tampa extends its monthly fresh market to Sunday, February 18, with a special focus on Black History Month.
This month’s market promises captivating performances by the Kuumba Dancers and Drummers, offering pop-up dance performances at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. on Water Street, bringing traditional African culture to life.
Raybon Plaza will be filled with soulful music, creating a vibrant atmosphere, complemented by mesmerizing live painting by local Black artists. For the younger attendees, there’s the ‘Paper Chain of Unity’ activity, where children can use colorful construction paper strips to create a chain with messages promoting unity, equality, and kindness, emphasizing solidarity during Black History Month.
Held on the third Sunday of each month, the Market at Water Street Tampa provides a diverse range of vendors, live entertainment, and public art. Guests are encouraged to stroll and shop along Water Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Featuring local, homemade, handcrafted, fair-trade, vintage, or eco-friendly products along with fresh produce, vendors regularly rotate. The market will continue to highlight cultural moments, including International Women’s Day, Pride Month, and more. Tampa Bay Markets collaborates with Water Street Tampa to curate vendors for the series.
Beyond the local vendors and live entertainment, the neighborhood will host public art displays and unique community art programs in collaboration with local non-profits and rotating artisans.
This event reflects the ongoing commitment to robust community programming in the neighborhood, offering activities suitable for all ages. For more information about events in Water Street Tampa, visit www.waterstreettampa.com/events.
